We Love Little Planet

Transparency and certification in a product helps parents make easy choices. It’s why we are committed to Clean at YUMI, earning the Clean Label Project Purity Award. It’s also why we’re loving Little Planet by Carter’s. But what certifications matter – and why – when it comes to your child’s food and clothing?

Better Tomorrow + Better World

Little Planet is committed to a world where all families with young children, including future generations, can grow and thrive. By using certified organic materials and planet-friendly recycled packaging, Carter’s goal by 2030 is to improve the lives of at least 10 million children and workers while also offering 100% sustainable cotton and polyester fibers.

Certifications

With products for your tots, there are certifications you should keep your eye out for. For example, the Clean Label Project Purity Award conducts rigorous, independent baby food testing for over 400 different contaminants, including heavy metals, chemicals, plastics, pesticides, and other toxins.

Your baby’s skin is their largest organ, so what you put on it matters. By buying products with this following certification, you’ll know that what you’re putting on them is truly non-toxic.

GOTS Organic Cotton

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the gold standard in organic cloth certification. Their certification covers the growth, processing, manufacturing, and finishing of the fiber. Organic cotton certification requires at least 95% pure organic raw materials. It also does not allow the use of flame retardants, formaldehyde, chlorine bleach, GMOs, toxic waterproofing, phthalates, PVC, BPA, or heavy metals.

GOTS also evaluates the processing and manufacturing of textiles on the basis of social criteria. This means that each person who brings your product to life is ethically treated. Employees must have fair working conditions and fair wages.

Recycled Materials

Clothing made with recycled materials gives new life to plastics. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, buying products made with recycled materials helps close the “recycling loop”. Closed-loop recycling is the process by which a product or material is used and then turned into another product (or converted back to raw material). All Little Planet swim, shoes, and outerwear styles are made with recycled materials.

Little Planet offers sizes ranging from preemie to 5T. So whether your little one is nibbling on stage one purees or munching on our rice-free puffs, they can do it in style. We may be biased, but we especially love the veggie and peach print fabrics.
